The book uses plastic coils, which have shown to hold up better than metal coils in the field. These books are coil bound with a Tan polydura hard shell cover, front and rear. These books can be used with Rite in Rain waterproof pen, sharpie ultra fine point pen, sharpie extra fine point marker, uniball 207 style pen or other smear-proof pen, or pencil.
